Master of Education in Reading
The Master of Education with a Reading Emphasis track is an advanced degree with a concentration of literacy courses. This is a 36 hour program. Some of the program courses are: History and Philosophy of Education; Current Trends in Young Adult Literature; Classroom and Group Management; Corrective Reading in the Classroom; Balanced Literacy; Teaching of Reading; Reading Seminar; Strategies for Content Area Reading; School Law; Classroom Assessment; Balanced Literacy; Current Trends in Children’s/Young Adult’s Literature. Those students who are interested in this track should complete a Plan of Study form using the degree plan and the current course listings on SAU’s homepage. The Plan of Study should then be submitted to the Program Director for admission into the program. This track does not lead to licensure.
