Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction
Master of Education Degree with a Curriculum & Instruction focus is an advanced degree with a specific assortment of curriculum courses. Some of the program courses are: Educational Research; History and Philosophy of Education; School Law; Classroom and Group Management; Current Issues and Trends in Education; Elementary School Curriculum / Secondary School Curriculum; Seminar in Elementary Education / Seminar in Secondary Education; Classroom Assessment; Balanced Literacy; Strategies for Content Area Reading; Capstone Portfolio. Those students who are interested in this track should complete a Plan of Study form using the degree plan and the current course listings on SAU’s homepage. The Plan of Study should then be submitted to the Program Director for admission into the program. These track is intended to strengthen the practice of the classroom teacher. The Middle Level emphasis track allows students the benefit of taking the required courses for endorsement, which can then be applied toward the advanced degree. This track does not lead to licensure.
