Western Michigan University (shortly known as WMU) is a public university was founded in 1903. Firstly school was founded as the Western State Normal School, but later was renamed Western State Teachers College. In 1941 the name was changed again to Western Michigan College of Education. The main campus is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. The school is the fifth largest university in the state of Michigan. 

WMU enjoys an international reputation in fields as varied as aviation, graph theory, medieval studies, engineering and jazz studies. Also WMU offer access to state-of-the-art academic facilities to it’s over 24,000 students--with nearly 20,000 at the undergraduate level. The University attracts students from every state in the union and over 100 other countries. Its more than 1,000 faculty members have been trained at some of the world's finest institutions and they bring to the University a global perspective that enhances the learning environment.

WMU has seven degree-granting colleges: Arts and Sciences, Aviation, the Haworth College of Business, Education, Engineering and Applied Sciences, Fine Arts, and Health and Human Services as well as the Graduate College, to assist students pursuing advanced degrees, and the Lee Honors College, one of the oldest honors programs in the nation.

Extended University Programs at Western Michigan University aims to provide high quality graduate and undergraduate degree programs, non-credit programs, professional development, and personal enrichment options. WMU offers also some programs online. Whether it is through traditional classroom instruction or online courses, it offers competitive tuition rates and nationally recognized, accredited programs in such fields as engineering, education, counseling, business, and health and human services.
