Graduate Certificate in Bioethics

Bioethics is a relatively new career field that has grown rapidly as society grapples with such issues as managed care, euthanasia, genetic testing, and stem cell research. Graduate Certificate Program in Bioethics provide students with a grounding in ethical theory, and the issues related to biotechnology applications, public health and health-care policy, and clinical practice in medical and allied health fields. The bioethics certificate enhances job skills and employment opportunities in three main fields like: health care, including the bio-tech industry as well as hospitals, nursing homes, and public health organizations; legal work, including law firms, hospital consulting, bioethics centers, medical societies, international organizations, and a variety of non-governmental organizations; and academic, including such fields as philosophy, anthropology, biology, history, politics, and sociology.

The Graduate Certificate Program in Bioethics requires a minimum of nine credit hours. Eight of those hours are in the core courses. The additional credit is to be completed by directed study or by additional coursework.
