Master of Education in Elementary Education
For many teachers, earning a master's degree isn't an option, it's required. For private and public school teachers, it's a logical choice that could lead to a raise. Experienced faculty members have designed a degree that readies teachers for the national board test while remaining relevant to their daily classroom experiences. The 36-hour program can be completed in as few as 18 months. The degree is ideal for teachers who have been working for several years and are ready to commit to a vigorous graduate program. Up to six credits may be transferred from another institution. During the final fall semester, students write a thesis, create a curriculum for an overseas boarding school, or prepare a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards portfolio. Although the program is primarily designed for teachers who are already certified, Southeastern also equips professionals who want to change careers and become teachers. The master’s program plus three undergraduate courses will lead to teacher certification in elementary education in Florida.
