Bachelors Degree in Applied Technical Studies/Technical Option

The Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS) is designed for students who have already completed an associate degree in a technical program (applied science or applied business degree) from an accredited community college, regional campus, or technical college, and who want to further their education by completing the requirements for a baccalaureate degree. The program provides students with knowledge, skills, and values necessary for advancement in their chosen careers. Technical skills developed within applied associate degree programs are integrated with professional development in areas of communication, research, culture, politics and organizational leadership. The BTAS is intended to provide a means by which working adults holding two-year technical degrees can complete a bachelor's degree program in the equivalent of two additional years of full-time study. The program maximizes the transfer of previously earned credits. Structure of the degree is simple – it requires only three core courses and 10 additional courses selected from four areas of concentration. Students must have a minimum 2.0 accumulative grade point average to apply to the Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies degree program.
