The York College was founded on August 26, 1890, by the United Brethren Church in conjunction with York citizens who wanted a church-related college. Nowadays York College is a senior liberal arts college affiliated with churches of Christ. It enrolls more than 400 students each year. The college continues to grow in service to students, to the York community, and to churches of Christ. Individuals come from more than 30 states and 6 countries, while 7,500 alumni reside in every state and several countries.

At York College popular majors include education, business, psychology, sciences, communication and Bible. A great number of pre-professional programs are also available. The College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Nebraska Independent College Foundation (NICF).

College Campus setting is safe and intimate that provides a great home for students. York College's campus includes more than 50 acres of land and over 700,000 square feet of buildings.
