Western Governors University was chartered in 1996, was incorporated as a private, non-profit university in 1997, and began accepting students in 1999. Founded by the governors of 19 U.S. states, WGU offers nationally and regionally accredited online bachelor’s and master’s degrees specifically designed for working adults.
