Valley City State University is an institution of higher learning in Valley City, North Dakota, founded in 1889 as a territorial normal school. The University offers four-year degrees in a number of fields in five academic divisions, as well as graduate degrees in Education delivered wholly online.
VCSU is widely regarded as a long-time leader in teacher education. Over the years, we have also developed innovative programs in business, information technology, health, and science, plus an outstanding portfolio of programs in the liberal arts. Valley City State University offers degree programs in teacher education, information technology, business, communication arts, social science, math, science, health, physical education, art, and music. Online and distance education options include a Master of Education (M.Ed.), graduate and undergraduate programs in Technology Education, and an endorsement in English Language Learners (ELL)/English as a Second Language (ESL).
Our online and distance education programs are perfect for those individuals who don't have enough time to complete their degrees on campus. Students may choose courses that are available online, through the Interactive Video Network (IVN), Face-To-Face in locations around North Dakota, and through Correspondence. We offer several options for full, bachelor's level programs that require little or no on-site presence.
We strive to help students/parents in seeking out aid to help with goals for a college education within federal guidelines. The University participates in many federal programs including Pell Grants, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Academic Competitiveness Grant, Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (Smart Grant), TEACH Grant, Work-study, Perkins Loans and the various Stafford Loan programs (including subsidized and unsubsidized).
