The University if Pittsburgh, often referred to as Pitt, is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the US, which are continuously charted. The University had several names in the past and was a private institution before Pitt was a private institution until it became part of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education in 1966.

Pitt has five regional campuses. The main campus is located in Pittsburgh’s historic Oakland neighborhood. The other four campuses are situated in Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, and Titusville.

Academics

Moreover, in fall 2009, other two online programs will be offered: Master of English Education and Master of Science in Nursing for the Certified Nurse Leader. Undergraduate online education options include a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Supervisor of Special Education and online courses in General Studies offered by the College of General Studies.

Distance education courses and degrees have the same quality and level of instruction as on-campus degrees. They allow students to pursue the degree and/or improve their professional skills and knowledge in the field of their choice from the comfort of their homes.

While most students apply to several universities at the same time, the application in Pitt has been simplified to help students go through the process with ease.
