UNC Charlotte operates for the educational, economic, social, and cultural development of the people of North Carolina through on- and off-campus programs, continuing personal and professional education opportunities, research, and collaborative relationships with private, public, and nonprofit institutions.
The main goal of UNC Charlotte is to spread educational opportunities and to guarantee success for qualified students of various backgrounds through informed and effective teaching in the liberal arts and sciences and in selected professional programs, and through programs and services designed to support student’s intellectual and personal development. The University offers an extensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs.
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte provides Distance Education that offers the delivery of a select number of programs. Our Distance Education programs are taught by the same faculty who teach our on-campus programs. Online program material, objectives, and outcomes are the same.
UNC Charlotte's online programs offer busy adults a great opportunity to continue their education without having to travel far from home. Online students will connect via the Internet with UNC Charlotte advisors and with the other students enrolled in classes.
Some of our online programs require students to log in at appointed times to participate in live classroom sessions. Many of our programs are totally asynchronous – with students and instructors communicating via e-mail and Course Discussion Boards at any convenient time for them. Some online and off-site programs require an occasional visit to campus. You will be notified before you register for classes, by your academic department if you will have to visit campus.
Financial Aid
UNC Charlotte administers both need-based student financial aid and merit-based assistance. Financial Aid is based on financial need, with the remainder based on achievement, skills, and abilities. Whether aid is need-based or merit-based, there are two other distinctions: gift aid and self-help aid. Gift aid carries no repayment or service requirement, and is typically grants and scholarships. Self-help aid requires repayment or service in return, and is typically loans and employment.
