The University of Nebraska (UN) is a four-campus, public university. The University makes a tremendous academic, cultural and economical asset to Nebraska and its citizens. The University of Nebraska strives to help build and sustain a state that offers educational and economic opportunities and an excellent quality of life.
The University of Nebraska is one university, governed by a Board of Regents whose members are elected by Nebraska voters. The board assigns a chief executive officer who is the single administrative officer responsible to the board. The university conducts its programs originally on its four campuses. The president's office provides general guidance to the university in academic affairs, budget development and control, business and finance, physical planning, policy development, external affairs, diversity and equity, and legal affairs.
Online and Distance Education
The University of Nebraska offers Online and Distance Education. UN has always been a leader in distance education. And now it continues to be at the front position by providing relevant degree programs and courses delivered in a convenient and flexible online format that are sure to fit any student’s needs. Our students come to us from all over the world to get instruction from the same well-known faculty that teach our on campus courses.
Distance education programs at UN provide students with multipurpose options from a fully accredited university. Students in online and hybrid degree programs receive: high-quality curriculum from a distinguished university; low tuition from a convenient, accessible location – your computer; programs taught using the same faculty and courses offered on campus; schedules of classes to suit your busy lifestyle; and highly interactive communication through e-mail, discussion, and chat groups
Both undergraduate and graduate degree programs are available, providing opportunities for the student who is just starting out or returning to take the next step in their education. Online education requires motivation and self-discipline in arranging study time. Online courses are highly interactive with faculty and students communicating through e-mail, discussion forums, and chat groups via Blackboard course management software. To enhance the quality of online instruction, many courses use multimedia presentations, streaming video, and supplemental CDs/DVDs.
Financial Aid
Practically every student is eligible to obtain financial aid to help finance the cost of their education. Different types of financial aid are available at UN. Approximately eight million dollars in scholarships are awarded to new students every year.
