University of the Cumberlands has historically served students primarily, but not exclusively, from the mountain regions of Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio and Alabama.
The University strives for excellence in all of its endeavors and expects from students a similar dedication to this pursuit. UC encourages students to think critically and creatively so that they may better prepare themselves for lives of responsible service and leadership. The focus of its undergraduate programs is extended and extrapolated into its graduate programs. Graduate study prepares professionals to be servant-leaders in their disciplines and communities, linking research with practice and knowledge with ethical decision-making.
Admissions
UC’s application requirements are a complete application, an application fee of $30, an official transcript with GPA or official GED scores, and an ACT or SAT score. The Acceptance and Scholarship Committee reviews each applicant individually.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is awarded to students based on their family’s demonstrated financial need. Individuals who receive scholarships are also eligible for financial aid. In order to receive financial aid the first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. At UC scholarships are gift assistance awarded on the basis of merit.
Career Services
Through a variety of services, reference materials, computer software, workshops and job fairs, the Career Services Office offers students practical assistance in preparing for their careers. Workshops on writing resumes, conducting a job search, and interviewing effectively are open to all students. Staff also offers advising on goal setting and career development, along with academic advising with a career focus.
