Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, also known as Southwest Tech or SWTC started its classes in 1967. It is a public, community technical college located in Fennimore, Wisconsin, United States. Southwest Tech is a comprehensive technical school of higher learning that offers excellent educational opportunities, a broad array of support services, and a student-friendly atmosphere. The college’s district includes the area covered by 30 school districts. Moreover, the college is a member of the 16 schools in the Wisconsin Technical College System.

Southwest Wisconsin Technical College provides lifelong learning opportunities with an individualized focus for students and communities.This college offers associate's degree and certificate programs but, with few exceptions, award no baccalaureate degrees. The Southwest Wisconsin Technical College prepares students entering the early childhood profession by offering an Associate's Degree in Child Care and Development. The School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville offers a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. The Associate Degree program places a high degree of emphasis upon application of child development knowledge as entry level skills while the bachelor's degree at UW-Platteville builds upon the introductory application skills by adding theoretical coursework, analytical and critical thinking competencies, and internships.
