NMSU, is a major land-grant university in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The school was founded as the Las Cruces College, an agricultural college, and in 1889 the school became New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. NMSU received its present name in 1960. NMSU's distance education degree programs are designed to serve students who may not be able to pursue an education through traditional means. New Mexico State University offers Bachelor degree completion programs, Masters and Doctorate programs, and a number of Certificate and Licensure options. Technology-Based Programs are delivered using WebCT, Centra, ITV (Interactive Television), and other learning technologies. In some cases, brief residencies on the NMSU main campus may be a requirement of the program.
