Extended University (Online Learning)
Montana State University supports a growing variety of online certificate and degree programs through its Extended University. It offers a variety of distance degree and learning opportunities that focus on graduate-level certification and advanced degrees.
At Extended University we believe that lifelong learning and exploring new ideas and methods for learning to occur is crucial to enriching education and improving quality of life. By utilizing technology, mobilizing the rich resources of our campus and extended community, and forging partnerships, we help students of all ages take advantage of the learning opportunities that great instruction and emerging technologies make possible.
At Extended University we focus our efforts in three main areas:
- Office of Continuing Education: Presenting unique learning opportunities to all ages...for credit, professional development or just for fun
- Montana State Online (Distance Degree and Certificate Programs): Offering courses, certificates and degrees for non-traditional students and busy lifestyles
- Burns Technology Center: Exploring and presenting new resources to better utilize technology in teaching and learning
Academics
MSU offers baccalaureate degrees in 51 fields, master's degrees in 41 fields, and doctoral degrees in 18 fields through its nine colleges: College of Agriculture, College of Arts and Architecture, College of Business, College of Education, Health and Human Development, College of Engineering, College of Letters and Science, College of Nursing, and University College.
MSU also offers a specialist degree in Education. The College of Nursing offers a Post-Master's Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certificate as well as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) degree.
