McKendree University was founded by frontier Methodists, making it the first college established in Illinois. The University is committed to providing students with the best education and resources needed to accomplish their goals. It guides students in the pursuit of academic excellence which will prepare them for leadership roles in society. In keeping with the history and traditions, McKendree provides students with a rigorous, broadly based liberal arts curricula joined with specialization in a specific discipline. It helps students develop an appreciation and understanding of human diversity by providing knowledge of and opportunity for experience with multiple ethnicities, cultures, and societies. Classes are taught by professors, not graduate students or teaching assistants. More than 90 percent of all professors have the highest degrees in their fields.

McKendree's Office of Financial Aid provides timely financial assistance while complying with all federal, state, and college policies and regulations.
