Established in 1950 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM) as Marymount College, the two-year educational institution has evolved in a four-year University some 20 years later. Today the University grants a variety of degrees to its campus students.

The University offers programs at several campus locations, which include main campus and Ballston Center in Arlington and Reston Center in Reston. Moreover, the Office of Corporate Outreach provides businesses an opportunity to make use of customized education programs on the site of the business itself.

Marymount University has developed a unique online program for working nurses with license, who seek advancement in their career and wish to obtain the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
In the beginning of a program students come for the orientation during which they will be acquainted with the faculty, other students and the technology they are to use for the successful completion of the program. Online Nursing R.N. to B.S.N. program offers convenient delivery format and flexible schedule, which can be adjusted to the needs of working professionals. Students admission is carried out in the spring and fall semesters only. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the State Board of Nursing of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Marymount University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Financial Aid
The University offers two kinds of financial support: financial aid for students who have limited financial resources to meet the tuition requirements and a variety of scholarships for students with outstanding academic achievements.
