The ICCOC contains seven Iowa Community Colleges who partner in order to give the students the opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts degree completely online. The online AA degree can lead to successful employment or will be very helpful as students  will start a baccalaureate degree at a 4-year transfer institution. Iowa CC online consists of the following seven colleges: Eastern Iowa Community College, Iowa Lakes Community College, Iowa Western Community College, Northwest Iowa Community College, Southeastern Community College, Southwestern Community College, and Western Iowa Tech Community College.

Online learners at the college need to be self-motivated and self-directed. Online classes are a great and convenient way for students to pursue their educational goals. These courses have the same academic standards as on- campus courses and can be more challenging.

The ICCOC courses are not self-paced. Students do have the flexibility of working on their homework as it fits into their daily schedule; however, there are due dates throughout the semester for assignments, projects, papers, quizzes, and tests.

Self-Discipline & Motivation
It is very important for every student to make his or her online courses an important part of the life. Although students have more flexibility and freedom, it is their duty to keep pace with the class and complete assignments.

Online courses require as much, if not more time as traditional courses. That's why it is crucial to set aside extra time so that the requirements of the course could be met.

Additionally students entering this online college should be able to put their thoughts into grammatically correct, written statements and/or essays. Typing skills are valuable in an online course.

The online environment gives its students the great opportunity not to bound to sit in the same room as other students in class. Some students may feel isolated and alone in this unfamiliar learning format.

When the students enroll in an ICCOC online course, the instructors will check their basic computer skills.  All students involved in these online programs should know how to use computer, the internet, email, word processors, spreadsheets, and send attachments prior to starting their online course.
