Hudson Valley Community College is a SUNY associated two-year college, located in Troy in Rensselaer, New York. Approximately 12,500 students are served here each semester. The establishment employs more than 630 full- and part-time faculty members and offers more than 70 degree and certificate programs through its four schools: Business; Engineering & Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences.
As a comprehensive, full-service community college, Hudson Valley is committed to meeting the educational and training needs of diverse constituencies. The college is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education and is a member of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
The college's academic programs are designed to promote compatibility and transferability to four-year institutions. It offers many distinctive programs, including vocational apprenticeship programs and many unique health science programs. The college maintains joint admission and transfer agreements with dozens of four-year colleges and universities.
Online Learning at Hudson Valley Community College means using the Internet and e-mail to access courses, submit homework assignments, and communicate with the instructor and other students. Online learning course materials include videos as well as textbooks, student guides, and Internet sites. Students can work at locations and times that are convenient for them. Although most of the work can be done from home, some of the courses require labs or other on-campus meetings. But Hudson Valley Community College also offers several degrees and certificates that can be completed entirely online.
The College provides accessible, educational opportunities that address the diverse needs of the community. That’s why, Hudson Valley Community College’s Admission Review Board serves as a screening committee for those applicants who have been convicted of a felony or dismissed for disciplinary reasons from another college or university as noted on their application for admission.
