DSU is a public, four-year university, located in Madison, SD. Dakota State University has a focus on programs in computers, business, education, physical sciences, among other graduate and undergraduate programs. DSU requires all full-time undergraduate students to use tablet PCs in general education courses.

Student Life
Student activities provide students the opportunity to be involved incampus life with a wide variety of activities. All students that involve themselves in extracurricular activities tend to develop leadership skills, friendships and valuable reference contacts. It also helps contribute greatly to the quality of life on campus and, in the end, students can add to their level of satisfaction with their university life.
Women's teams participate in volleyball, basketball, indoor and outdoor track, cross country, and softball. And men's teams compete in football, basketball, cross country, indoor and outdoor track and baseball. University is aimed to providing equal opportunities for participation in intercollegiate athletics. Dakota State University maintains membership in the Dakota Athletic Conference.
