Cardinal Stritch University was established by the Sisters of Saint Francis of Assisi in 1937 as St. Clare College with its main task to train nuns as teachers. The institution became Cardinal Stritch University in 1997.
The University has determined its values: creating a caring community, sharing compassion, reverencing creation and peacemaking. Its values are as appropriate to modern-day society as they were many years ago. In the spirit of St. Francis, Stritch operates to improve not only the lives of its students and graduates, but also the society.
Since its founding, it has grown to become the largest Franciscan institution in the country, and it takes that distinction and responsibility very seriously.
The mission of the University is to transform lives through value-centered education, and it constantly strives to nurture in its students a lifelong commitment to spiritual and personal development, which is the underpinning of committed families, ethical businesses, vibrant communities and a peaceful world.
Cardinal Stritch University also has campuses located in Kenosha, Wisconsin; Edina, Minnesota; evening programs in Rochester, Minnesota, and offers multiple Outreach programs throughout Wisconsin.
Online Learning
Cardinal Stritch University offers a variety of degree programs, certificates and courses in an online or distance learning format. Online learning is a perfect option for students who do not live near a University location or prefer the flexibility of learning that fits their lifestyle.
Financial Aid
Although many people believe that the cost of a private university is prohibitive, in reality, scholarships, grants, work-study programs and loans can make a Stritch education very affordable. More than 82% of Stritch students benefit from these programs.
Financial aid eligibility is calculated by the Free Application for Federal Financial Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA determines the amount student and his/her family can reasonably afford to pay toward the higher education costs.
Academic Admissions
In order to be academically admitted to the University, the student must provide basic information about themselves, their language abilities and their prior education.
