California State University, Dominguez Hills is a four-year public university located in the city of Carson and primarily serving the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Founded in 1960, the University opened its doors in 1965 in Palos Verdes. Today, the University is in the midst of a vital business and cultural community, close to many of Southern California's entertainment centers and attractions. The University six colleges offer 45 undergraduate majors, 24 master's degrees and a number of certificate and credential programs. The programs are taught by excellent and experienced faculty known for their personal commitment to students. Business Administration, Liberal Studies (teacher education program) and Nursing are the top majors of the undergraduate level. The university offers excellent distance learning opportunities, which include Young Scholar Program, Upper Division Courses, Self-Paced & Instructor-Led Professional Programs. Besides, CSU Dominguez Hills, the largest distance learning program in California, offers students an opportunity to earn ten academic degrees and seven academic certificates without ever coming to campus. DHTV, which broadcasts 20 hours of live, interactive programming each week to more than a million homes via cable tv, can also be seen on the Internet.

California State University, Dominguez Hills is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
