California Coast University takes a guided independent learning approach to distance education. The University is a distance learning institution and does not offer any on-campus or residential type degree programs. A great number of degree programs are developed for learners whose geographic, professional, or personal time commitments keep them from completing their education in traditional on-campus programs.
In addition to online programs, the University also offers correspondence programs. Students have the opportunity to choose their method of study. It is not a requirement that individuals come to the University in person. The only exception is for Doctoral candidates- CCU asks that they appear in person for their Oral Defense of their Dissertation.
The University's programs are not structured in quarters, semesters, or terms. Students are allowed to apply and begin their studies at any time during the year.
California Coast University offers a range of benefits including the following:
- flexible programs designed to fit into learner's busy schedule;
- quality student services department;
- textbook rental library;
- academic credit for previous work experience;
- self-paced study with no set meeting or exam dates;
- encouraging faculty for assisting students throughout the program;
- discounts for Service Members and immediate family.
