Bismarck State College (BSC), the fourth largest college in the North Dakota university system with approximately 3500 students, is a comprehensive community college that offers two-year, four-year, and master's level degrees.
BSC was created in 1939 because local community needed a college, and it was originally known as Bismarck Junior College. Today this educational institution is a part of North Dakota's system of higher education, and since 1966 is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Academics
Academics at BSC comprise of the variety of programs offering the first two years of education toward a bachelor's degree in most fields. In addition to general education and technical programs, unique to the institution are degrees in energy education, including power and process plant technology, ethanol training, nuclear power technology, and electric power technology.
