BSCTC aims at providing a two-year course of general and technical education tailored for students who plan either to transfer to a baccalaureate programs and/or go straight into the workforce to take entry-level positions in a variety of occupations. Moreover, there is an an adult education program offered at BSCTC, which prepares participants for the GED and/or college. BSCTC has a variety of instructional delivery modes for its degree, certificate and training programs.
Classes at BSCTC are conveniently offered through several avenues Hager Hill, Mayo, Prestonsburg and Pikeville campuses and other off-site locations, Internet classes, distance learning and KET offerings. The schedule can be adjusted to the needs of working professionals to include morning, afternoon and evening offerings as well as weekend classes. The College offers programs and courses of study in general, developmental, technical, and career education; student development; community and public service; and lifelong learning. Through these programs and courses, the College awards continuing education units, diplomas, certificates, and associate degrees consistent with the comprehensive nature of the institution.
Admission Requirements
Prospective students must meet certain criteria in order to be admitted to the Big Sandy Community and Technical College:
Students must be at least 16 years of age to enroll.
A completed application must be either completed online or downloaded, printed, and completed from the application section of the admissions website.
Along withe a completed application, official high school transcripts (coming directly from school) must be sent to the Admissions office (alternatively, it can be mailed by the student if it is in a sealed and signed envelope).
BSCTC accepts scores from either the COMPASS test or ACT.
