Founded in 1885 as a college for educating international immigrants, the school has evolved in a private, coeducational, four-year comprehensive institution, which offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees to its students.
The College academic divisions include four schools headed by deans:
• Arts, Education & Sciences
• Business Administration
• Health Sciences; and Continuing
• Extended Studies.
Academics
American International Institute offers academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels in more than dozen liberal arts and sciences and career-related fields. These include but are not limited to the following majors: the social sciences, the physical sciences, accounting, business administration, criminal justice, hospitality, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, sports management, and teacher education.
While most of the programs are offered on-campus, the College has developed several flexible programs, which use the hybrid format and flexible schedule to fit the needs of working professional. Thus, students can pursue the three degrees using the combination of online and resident courses:
• Master – Business Administration (campus and online)
• Executive MBA – Commercial Fitness (campus and online)
• MS – Nursing Administration (campus and online)
• MS – Nursing Education (campus and online)
Moreover, there are several certificate programs offered completely online, which brings the convenience of self-paced and flexible schedule education to the lives of students. The certificate programs include Certificate in Foundations in Project Management, Certificate in Health Care Management, Certificate in Lean Management, and the Certificate in Executive Management.
American International College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Incorporated. In addition various programs have received accreditation and recognition from the respective agencies and associations.
Financial Aid
A number of financial aid opportunities exist for eligible students. They include scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study programs. The academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement.
