Established in 1923 as the Iola Junior College, the college evolved and developed into a community college with three campus locations in the state of Kansas. Today Allen County Community College enrolls more than 2,000 students each semester in the programs offered on the Iola, Burlingame and New Strawn Campus campuses, over Interactive Television, on the Internet, and at the outreach sites located within the six-county service area.
Academics
Academics objectives at Allen County Community College include providing curricula, which will either prepare students for transfer to the four-year higher education institution or for immediate employment in the workforce. Moreover, the college offers continuing education and lifelong learning opportunities to help students improve their career prospects and ensure personal growth and development.
Distance learning opportunities include Interactive Television and Internet courses, as well as programs at the outreach sites located within the six-county service area. Students can pursue two certificate programs completely online, which are:
- Online Pharmacy Technician Certification
- Online Medical Office Assistant.
Additionally, there are numerous courses and classes, which students can complete online using Blackboard account.
